Aviano Elementary School welcomed military families for a heartwarming “Donuts with Dad” event on Jan. 10, celebrating the strong bond between fathers and their children. The event, organized to foster connections between families and the school community, was especially meaningful within the context of the tight-knit military environment.
Dads, or any parent or guardian, and their children, shared quality time over fresh donuts and hot coffee, creating an inviting atmosphere where students proudly introduced their parents to teachers and friends. For many military families, time together is often limited, making this event a special opportunity to connect and create lasting memories. The event also encouraged other family members to join in the celebration.
“Being stationed in Aviano and with my job, it’s always busy with TDYs and deployments. I don’t have the opportunity to go and attend certain school events with my daughters,” said MSgt Michael Davila, one of the dads who attended. “Donuts with Dad was a great opportunity — I was able to be there and spend time with my daughters before school. I would like to thank the PTA for hosting such a great event.”
The morning was filled with joy as families enjoyed a simple yet meaningful tradition, strengthening the partnership between the school and military families. The event underscored the importance of family support in the educational journey, offering a moment to pause, appreciate one another, and celebrate the vital role parents play in their children's academic lives.
Thanks to the efforts of the Aviano Elementary School PTA, “Donuts with Dad” became a success, exemplifying the value of family involvement in education and reinforcing the community bonds that support student success.
