AVIANO, Italy – Aviano Elementary School recently hosted a Spring Fling event for all grade levels during specials time, providing students with an engaging, interdisciplinary celebration. The event integrated music, art, physical education, and host nation studies to showcase student learning and creativity.

Students at every grade level participated in musical performances. Fourth- and fifth-grade students performed selections on the recorder, while third-grade students demonstrated their skills on the chromatic melody bells. All students sang a song in Italian, highlighting their connection to and appreciation of the host nation. Some grade levels also performed patriotic selections, including “This Land Is Your Land” and “America.”

Physical education classes contributed to the event through a high-energy, choreographed dance set to “ABC” by the Jackson 5, which students learned during PE lessons. Each grade-level performance concluded with singing and coordinated movements to “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong, bringing the presentation to a meaningful and reflective close.

Student artwork was displayed throughout the gymnasium. The art was inspired by song lyrics from the performances, allowing students to visually interpret music through art. Following the performances, students participated in an art stroll, giving them the opportunity to discuss their own creations and appreciate the artwork of their peers.

The Spring Fling concluded with a final bow from the performers, after which students enjoyed a special treat in the school courtyard with friends. Treats were provided by the PTA. The event successfully celebrated student creativity, collaboration, and learning across multiple disciplines, leaving lasting memories for students and staff alike.
