Aviano Elementary Hosts Inspiring Proclamation Ceremony Honoring the Month of the Military Child

Aviano Elementary School kicked off its Month of the Military Child celebrations with a proclamation ceremony honoring the strength, resilience and courage of military-connected students.

The event featured the official signing of a proclamation by Brig. Gen. Tad D. Clark, commander of the 31st Fighter Wing, pledging continued support for military children. Gen. Clark signed the document in front of students and staff, recognizing the unique challenges military children face, including frequent moves, long deployments and ever-changing circumstances.

Principal Mrs. Dubenion also addressed the crowd, emphasizing the school’s ongoing commitment to its students.

“Military children are brave, flexible and strong,” she said. “This month, and every month, we honor their journey.”

Students filled the school’s outdoor court wearing “Purple Up Aviano” shirts, creating a sea of purple—the symbolic color for military children that represents all branches of the armed forces.

The event served as both a formal declaration and a moment of unity for the school community, reflecting pride and gratitude for the families who serve.

Throughout April, Aviano Elementary will continue to recognize military children through special events, themed spirit days and classroom activities celebrating their contributions to the military community.

To military children everywhere: we thank you, we celebrate you and we are proud of you.
