AVIANO, Italy — Students in grades 3–5 at Aviano Elementary School showcased their talents during a Winter Extravaganza Concert and Art Show held Dec. 18, highlighting student creativity through music, art, and language. The festive event brought the school community together to celebrate the season while demonstrating the results of collaborative learning across multiple subject areas.

Large group specialists worked together to create a well-rounded performance experience. Music teacher Michael James Sr. led third-grade students as they learned and performed notes on resonator bells, allowing each class to be featured on stage. Third graders also sang and danced to lively holiday songs, while fourth- and fifth-grade students performed familiar tunes on recorders and sang together as a group. The concert concluded with a special finale in which all participating students sang together in both English and Italian, highlighting language learning alongside musical growth.

Following the concert, families were invited to view a winter-themed art show featuring projects from every class. Student artwork was displayed throughout the school hallways and cafeteria in the weeks leading up to the event. To accommodate audiences, the performance was held twice on Dec. 18, with Pre-K through second-grade students attending an afternoon showing and family members attending an evening performance. The Winter Extravaganza served as a joyful celebration of student learning, creativity, and collaboration among staff, students, and families.
