Reading Celebration Week brings readers together at Aviano Elementary School

Aviano Elementary School celebrated Reading Celebration Week with an unforgettable series of literacy events designed to connect students, foster community, and ignite a lifelong love of reading. One of the most impactful activities of the week was the Reading Buddies initiative, thoughtfully coordinated by the school’s Informational Specialist, Ms. Amy Herk. This special program paired students across four participating classes—the K/1 split class, 1st grade, 2nd grade, and 4th grade—creating mentorship-style reading partnerships that brought stories and students to life in meaningful ways.
